My parents use to treat us during the summer at Don and Bob's while growing up. I loved your cheeseburgers, onion rings and a chocolate shake. I miss Don's now that I live in Virgina, but when ever I return, I need a GREAT cheeseburger!

I grew up in Colorado, but every time we would come to Rochester to visit the family, the first place we go is Sea-Breeze! I look SO forward to our trip this summer, when we are able to make it back (it's been three years). You can bet that on our way to Thousand Islands, NY, we will be back at Don & Bob's to introduce our five year old son to the hamburg with hot sauce, the fries, the chocolate milk, and though we miss the big huge jar of pickles they still taste awesome!!! :)
I can't wait!!! we will see you in a few months! ~Randolph/Urynowicz Family

I grew up with Bob and Dons in Brighton as the place to be and to meet friends. On Thanksgiving it was the place to go to when a freshman in college to show off your college jacket. I remember especially how hard Bob Prenner worked there the first indication of his coming success as a businessman in years to come

Don's Original's Fresh,Lean,Juicy Ground Round Steak Sandwich is the best in the U.S.A.! Grew up on it & still savor every bite today!Better than any old hamburger, that's for sure! The meaty chili Hot Suace is exceptional-I even dream about it -it's SO GOOD-on Ground Steak,on Fries, on everything!! The Frozen Chocolate Almond Custard is a Million Times tastier than that Abbott's place! That's the absolute TRUTH, folks!!!!

My grandmother lived her whole life in Irondequoit until her death in the mid-80s. Whenever we visited WE ALWAYS stopped at D&B's for TX hots. And we ate them at the big wooden pick-nick tables outside! Thanks for the cherished memories!!!

I'll be in Sea Breeze in less than 2 weeks and my first stop will be at Don and Bob's for a ground and almond custard. Even though things are bigger in TX ya can't get anything like what you get at Don's.

We came to this country in 1957 from Holland. Don and Anne employed our whole family (except mom) in one capacity or another. My dad and two brothers worked there evenings, weekends, vacations, etc. My brother John came to be known as "long John" because he was so tall. Don's gave us the additional income we needed to start over from scratch and become successful. We will always be grateful to him. As for me, I worked at the original restaurant on Monroe Avenue for about 2 weeks. I couldn't handle the screaming of "TWO GROUND ROUNDS, TWO. After two weeks Don called me into his office and told me that this was not a good job for me. However, would I be a sitter for his two boys: Donny and Bobby in their home on Varinna Drive. I was happy to get out of the restaurant business, but happy I still had a job. I stayed overnight during vacations and when school started again, I came every Thursday after school and stayed overnight, played with the boys, got their supper ready and ate with them. After they went to bed, I washed their clothes and did my homework, and went to bed and went to school from there on Friday. They are fun memories and that is why mom and I were the very last customers when the restaurant on Monroe Ave. closed for the final time before the bank was built. Four out of the five of us had gotten our start there and we have always been grateful for the kindness Don and Anne showed to this family of immigrants.

Growing up, whenever I heard "we're going for a hot dog" that always meant Don and Bob's at the Lake. At 51 I'm still a loyal customer. Their service and food is still excellent at a great value for the quality!

Expensive, but worth every dime...The burgers melt in your mouth, juicy, dripping with flavor.
